Bhadravati (Marathi: भद्रावती) is a city and a municipal council in Chandrapur district in the state of Maharashtra, India. Jain Mandir at Bhadravati is supurb and one must visit here.if any jain has not visited this then they are missing one great place to visit.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Bhadravati had a population of 56,679. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Bhadravati has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 84% and female literacy of 73%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Places of interest

There is one ancient Jain temple located in Bhadravati, known as JAIN MANDIR. The temple belongs to Shwetamber sect of Jain religion. Also there are 2000 years old Buddhist caves,popularly known as VIJASAN TEKDI. It is located at Vijasan village. These caves has hosted International Buddha Dhamma conventions. Several leaders and Monks of Buddha Dhamma from all over the world represent at the convention. Also this city is blessed with lord Shiva as it has an ancient temple of "Bhadrashesh" popularly known as "Nagoba Mandir" or NAG MANDIR . People around many places used to come here on Mahashivratri and Nag-Panchami. Another famous temple is "Ganesh Temple" at Gavrala.

Many Industries and coal mines are also located in this town. ORDINANCE FACTORY CHANDA(OFC) is one of them. EMTA coalmines near baranj is the newly established coal mine. The city also has MSRTC Bus Stop and Railway Station. As it is located on Chandrapur-Nagpur Highway, hence it is well known for good transport facility.

Bhadravati is well known for education facities in the district. It has many schools, colleges, etc. Newly Established Shri Sai College of Engineering and Technology is famous. Other schools & colleges are N.S. College of Science,Fairyland school,Vivekanand College,Z.P. high school,Lokmanya Tilak school,etc. Although Ordinance Factory High School(OFHS) and K.V.O.F. in defence colony are the oldest and famous among them.
